Luis Lugo

Coach Luis Lugo grew up in the small Central Florida town of Avon Park before moving to Georgia to attend Valdosta State University. While at Valdosta State, Coach Lugo earned a Bachelor’s degree in History, a Master’s degree in Teaching, and a Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership. He also holds a Tier I Educational Leadership certification.

Upon graduating from VSU, Coach Lugo accepted a job at Coffee County High School, where he spent two seasons as a varsity baseball assistant coach.  At Coffee, Coach Lugo worked primarily with the outfielders and catchers and Coach Lugo was able to develop student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom while gaining valuable experience at the varsity level.

Coach Lugo was offered a job at Richmond Hill High School by his former Coffee county coaching colleague Hill Thomas.  Coach Lugo has spent the last three seasons as a varsity assistant coach at Richmond Hill where his responsibilities included coaching the outfielders, serving as first base coach, and helping coordinate advance scouting and game preparation. During his tenure, Richmond Hill qualified for the state playoffs in all three seasons and Coach Lugo’s advance scouting prowess was cited as an important aspect in Richmond Hill’s success. 

Coach Lugo is an energetic and passionate coach who prioritizes building relationships with student-athletes and helping them develop as players, students, and leaders. Coach Lugo believes in creating a competitive environment emphasizing accountability, character, and a team-first mentality.  Coach Lugo is an all star teacher as well as coach and Coach Lugo will serve as a social studies teacher for Pope High School. 

Coach Lugo and his wife, Natalie, are proud parents to their son, August. The Lugo family is excited to be a part of the East Cobb community and Greyhound Baseball program.
