Keith Golden
Head JV Coach
Keith Golden has dedicated his career to education and athletic development, combining a lifelong passion for sports with a commitment to mentoring young athletes. A graduate of LaGrange High School in 1993, Keith was a three-year baseball letterman under Hall of Fame Coach Donnie Branch, excelling at third base, first base, and catcher. His performance earned him a baseball scholarship to Young Harris College, where he played first base and catcher as a freshman before transitioning to pitching under the guidance of Hall of Fame and National Championship Coach Greg Appleton, now head coach at Columbus State University. During his sophomore season, Young Harris finished second in the Georgia Junior College Association Tournament, and Keith was honored with the inaugural Zell B. Miller Coaches Award for leadership and dedication.
Following his time at Young Harris, Keith pursued a lifelong dream by enrolling at the University of Georgia, where he began his coaching career at Athens Academy under Joey Alfonso, a former UGA National Champion. He worked with both middle school and varsity teams during the 1996–1997 seasons before returning to Young Harris College in 1997–1998 to coach pitchers. That summer, Keith gained invaluable experience under Coach Rick Robinson, whose mentorship contributed to the development of numerous future Division I and Major League Baseball players. Keith completed his degree at UGA in December 1999.
In 2000, Keith launched his teaching and coaching career at Saint Francis School in Roswell, Georgia, where he coached multiple sports at the middle school level. In 2004, Hall of Fame Coach Donnie English recruited him to Kell High School to oversee pitchers. From 2005 to 2013, Keith served as Kell’s pitching coach, working with athletes who advanced to Major League Baseball and top collegiate programs, including Nick Fuller, a third-round pick by the Tampa Bay Rays, and Zeke Spruill, a second-round pick.
In 2005, Keith began teaching Physical Education at Addison Elementary School in Cobb County, a position he continues to hold today. Two years later, he founded the East Cobb Rangers, a premier summer travel baseball organization that quickly earned national recognition. Under his leadership, the Rangers produced elite athletes such as Jason Delay, a National Champion at Vanderbilt and MLB player for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves, and Joshua Dobbs, a standout quarterback at the University of Tennessee and current NFL player for the New England Patriots.
Keith later served as Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach at Roswell High School under Hall of Fame Coach Mike Power before stepping away from high school baseball to coach a major travel team (East Side Park) and support his two sons’ athletic pursuits. In 2019, he accepted the role of Head Freshman Basketball Coach at Lassiter High School, leading the program for five seasons before resigning after the 2023–2024 season to follow his son’s high school basketball career at Milton High School.
Today, Keith Golden continues to impact the lives of young athletes through his teaching and coaching, emphasizing leadership, character, and personal growth. He is the proud father of two sons: Tate, a junior and varsity basketball player at Milton High School, and Brady, a freshman football player at Milton.
